Slam Wager glossary

Closing line value

Closing line value compares a wager's recorded entry price with a clearly identified closing price for the same market; it does not prove skill, causation, or profit.

Also called: CLV, closing-price comparison

How to interpret it

A valid comparison needs the same event, market, side, line convention, source, and documented timestamps. Mixing providers or market definitions can create a misleading result.

Limits and responsible use

  • A closing price is still a market price rather than a perfect forecast, and small or selected samples should not be generalized.

Use a closing-price comparison as one diagnostic alongside complete receipts and stated methodology, never as a promise of future returns.
